We just had our monthly meeting with Compendium, the company that introduced us to blogging.  It's always so motivating to speak with Kristen and seeing how our blogging touches so many readers.

I have enjoyed blogging and at the same time learning a lot about prenatal curriculum and how it relates to prenatal care and fetal development.

I think that most people know what you intake during pregnancy influences fetal development of the baby.  What you eat, drink, or breathe all reaches your baby in your womb.  Over time, we have learned smoking and drinking can negatively impact development, while eating healthy foods and taking prenatal vitamins can have a positive influence.  However, as I am learning more and more about how BabyPlus stimulates the growing baby's mind by using the mother's heartbeat, it is quite fascinating how such a simple sound can have such a tremendous result.

As I learn more and continue to blog, it will be exciting to share this information and keep spreading the wonderful news about BabyPlus!

my thoughts on blogging..........

I usually blog about BabyPlus, prenatal care, fetal development, the mother's heartbeat, and other thoughts about our wonderful product.

Today, however, I am thinking about the actual process of blogging.  We have found that many, many people have subscribed to the BabyPlus blogs.  To all of you - we say THANK YOU!  We love hearing your comments and praises.  This is one of the best things about this job!  (Truly, to open your email almost every day with great stories about BabyPlus babies from "our" parents is such a great perk!)

We are getting a change.  Change can be good.

There was a time when an expectant mother did not really do much of anything to impact the prenatal environment.  So much has changed!  One such change is that we now know that nutrition plays an important role in your baby's development.  Another change is the use of prenatal vitamins.  These are specially formulated multivitamins that make up for any nutritional deficiencies in the mother's diet.  Click on the link to read about the importance of taking a prenatal vitamin.

Prenatal care is what any mother willingly does for her baby.  That is why the many articles on prenatal development are now stressing the importance of what is happening during the stages of pregnancy.  Week by week, your baby is changing and growing.  You have a wonderful opportunity to provide your baby an education in the womb with a sound that changes every week.  This changing sound is the mother's heartbeat sounds, the only sound your baby truly understands.

Make a change!  Give your baby the benefit of learning in the womb!

The Presidential Election is almost at an end.  It's all in the hands of the voters and the decision will be made soon.  It has been one of the most, if not the most, important elections in history.  It is the main thing people are talking about and has been the primary focus in the media.  A lot of pressure will be on the victor for the next four years and hopefully all their preparation will help them along the way.

For years, each of the candidates have meticulously planned and prepared their positions and platforms.  Their entire careers have laid the foundation for their political futures and have led up to this moment.  It might be safe to say that things they did years ago might have an impact on where they are today.

Many factors can influence a person's life over time.  For example, if a mother doesn't get adequate calcium intake during pregnancy, it can weaken her bones years in the future.  If a child doesn't brush her teeth, she will get cavities.  If a father practices catching a football with his son, he will eventually learn how.  If a pregnant mother uses BabyPlus during pregnancy, her child will receive the benefits of a prenatal curriculum.  This, in turn, will set the foundation for a lifetime of learning.  This means it will influence the child's life into their teenage years, when they are in college, when they go to get a job and when they become parents.  The use of BabyPlus during such a critical period in prenatal development is a springboard to setting the stage for a multitude of benefits that will last throughout their lives.

We have a wonderful testimonial from a BabyPlus mom.

"I used the BabyPlus system and am so amazed by what its done. Every single thing your site claims that this product does, is dead on! I was in labor for over 12 hours and ended up having an emergency cesarean. My baby girl had to endure all of this stress in the womb and yet once she was born she was bright eyed, lifted her head, pulled the nurses stethoscope and was unbelievably alert. The nurses were amazed by her, so much so they actually sent other nurses in to see her. At a day old she was laying on my chest and started inching her way up my chest towards my neck and nuzzled herself there. I was astonished as was every visitor who saw her. The child barely ever has cried, she is amazingly capable of coping with any change that I put her through. For example, switching from breast to bottle was no problem at all - switching from sleeping in the bassinet next to me to the crib in her own room - not one hiccup with that either, eating solids was also quite easy. She simply adapts to change very well. Every person I meet and even family and friends who have children of their own cannot believe how alert and responsive she is. You can't even imagine how many times I have had people completely shocked when I tell them how old she is because they expect her to be older because of the way she is.

Another thing I hear from family, friends and strangers alike is that they've never seen a baby look at them with such concentration - like she doesn't have that blank look about her that most infants have. She truly interacts with you, smiling back, she will crawl to you if you call her name, she hears us call our dogs name and she immediately looks out for her, she vocalizes back to you when you talk to her, she's simply amazing. I'm actually switching her to the older kids playgroup because she is just that far ahead of reaching milestones as the other kids her age, the teacher agreed completely with me that she's definitely ready.

As far as her milestones go, at about 6 weeks she started rolling over. She had complete head and neck control at 2 months. At 4 months she started "soldier crawling" as we called it and was capable of sitting perfectly fine at 5 months and by 5 1/2 months she started crawling. A week before she turned 6 months, she started pulling herself up on things and can now stand while holding onto something and has started to walk alongside the couch as she holds onto it. She's known her name now for a good month and a half as well (she turned 6 months on Oct. 24, 2008). As I mentioned before, I take her to a playgroup with babies all her age and she is by far the most alert of all of them, most social and the only one that crawl and stand and sit perfectly still. Most of the other babies are just learning to sit or mastering rolling over. I hear of the troubles the moms have with none stop crying and reluctance to bottles and so on and I bless the day I found out about BabyPlus. My husband and I are 100% convinced that she is the way she is because of BabyPlus. At her last doctor's visit, the pediatrician was even shocked at all the milestones she has already conquered. In our doctors words "her motor skills, both large and small are at that of a 10 month baby's level." This is the most amazing thing I have ever had the pleasure of using and will definitely be using it on any future babies we have.

Without any hesitation I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone who is having a baby."

...more readily nurse.

One of the more interesting benefits we hear from BabyPlus moms is that their babies more readily nurse and have success with breastfeeding.  Here are some of the amazing things our moms have written to us.

"My daughter took to nursing right away and it was a wonderful experience."

"After birth, my daughter latched on from first try. "

"In the nursery she was the only one not crying and took to breast feeding right away."

"Our little one took to the breast right away and she is a very good self soother."

""He took to breast feeding immediately.  I had ZERO problems with nursing my son.  He just took to it soo easily."

"She latched on successfully the first time I try to breastfeed her and that was amazing! I have very little idea on breastfeeding and was on my own but she is just so cooperative and latched on like a pro."

...display an increased ability to self-soothe.

We have so many wonderful customer testimonials about how their BabyPlus babies sleep through the night and have a calm and pleasant demeanor.  Here is a sample of what our BabyPlus parents have to say.

"While in the hospital, he slept through the night, and we would have to wake him up to feed him, and he continues to sleep through the night at home."

"Sleeping was another thing that amazed me with my daughter.  She was sleeping through the night (11:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m.) at eight weeks old.  I couldn’t believe it!"

"With the exception of about 2 weeks, he has slept through the night since he was born.  He has never even cried himself to sleep, he just plays with his hands and then dozes off."

"By week 3, she was sleeping 8-10 hours during the night."

"He was a very content baby, would sleep anywhere!  He started sleeping through the night very early without incident.  Now, he's still a great sleeper, sleeps until 8am everyday.  When he was an infant, he was very easy to soothe if he was upset.  He could entertain himself for long periods of time."

BabyPlus.....and the economy????

Yes, believe it or not, BabyPlus is actually tied into the economy, and this is how....

No matter what the economy is doing, parents still want to do what is best for their children.  Prenatal education is one of those things!  Here at the BabyPlus Company, we talk almost daily to parents who want to know how to improve the prenatal environment for their child.  Once they learn about the benefits of infant stimulation, early development during pregnancy, fetal development, and fetal development in stages, they can't wait to order their BabyPlus and begin using the curriculum!

So, whether we are in a good economy or a bad economy, parents still want to do what is best for their unborn baby.  Therefore, the BabyPlus is the perfect answer to the question, "What can I do for my baby before she is born?"

Please click on the link to see the benefits of using the BabyPlus, read blogs, and read testimonials from BabyPlus parents.  No matter what is going on in the world, parents will still always want what is best for their babies!

I was unable to breastfeed with either of my two boys.  I tried with my oldest, but we had so much trouble that we went to formula.  It seemed that I was getting stressed trying which in turn passed to him; we couldn't stop the cycle.  With my second, he was quite bruised from the birthing process that he couldn't get his mouth open wide enough and I couldn't bear forcing him.  In either case, I started feeling like a bad mother because I was supposed to be able to breastfeed.  I eventually realized that if I am miserable trying and my baby isn't getting nourished, I have to do the right thing and think of him.

I think as mothers we put a tremendous amount of pressure on ourselves and are very unforgiving if we can't do it all.  It's time to give ourselves a break and realize that providing a loving and safe environment for our children is what's important.  And if we are stressed out and tense, that only makes our babies feel our stress.

Breastfeeding is a very personal choice.  Yes, I wish I would have been able to breastfeed, but I look at my boys today and they're wonderful.  I still bonded with them, and they have grown to be well-adjusted young men.  I eventually was able to relax and not be so hard on myself, which gave me the freedom to focus on other aspects of raising them and enjoy being a mom.

We have no idea what life will throw at us.  Sometimes it would be nice to have a head's up, but we pretty much have to have blind faith that everything will work out for the best.  When our little ones are in the womb, they don't have those worries.  They just kick back and don't have a care in the world.  Their development occurs on its own through the course of pregnancy, and they are dependent on Mom for all their needs through this time.  The mother's body has a lot of influence on prenatal development, especially cognitively.  The mother's heartbeat is the one true constant in their environment and stimulates learning early on.  BabyPlus is similar to that heartbeat, so it would be safe to conclude that this would also stimulate learning as well.  In a nutshell, BabyPlus babies have received twice as much learning activity during prenatal development, and therefore, they have a head start in laying the groundwork for learning the rest of their lives.  It's such a simple idea with such amazing lifelong benefits!

Parents, especially first-time parents, are concerned that they are doing everything they can for their babies.  They make sure they get nourishment for their health.  They read books to them to stimulate their minds.  They use car seats for their safety.  The list goes on and on.  But what about during the critical periods of development in the womb?  The idea of a prenatal curriculum is still relatively new but is just as important as elements after the baby is born.  Stimulating an infant's mind before birth by using a sound similar to the mother's heartbeat can give them a head start in learning that will be the basis for the rest of their lives.  It's a must for lists of what to have during pregnancy!

BabyPlus - Global Availability

As founder of the BabyPlus Company, my primary goal is not what you may think. As much as we seek to grow the sales and distribution of BabyPlus, I have many wonderful co-workers who see that we develop a strong brand name in the marketplace.

While this pursuit is certainly desirable for any company in this very new and exciting educational niche, I am more interested in something else. I am more interested in further validation of this profound developmental tool. This validation will lead naturally to building further awareness of prenatal education and, most importantly, increased availability of BabyPlus for the critical period in prenatal development. My personal desire is that we are able to bring this curriculum to all corners of the world with no socio-economic divisions. Please click on the picture of the green world map to view our International Distributors.

A prenatal vitamin is indeed available in the U.S, at least, for any expectant mom who seeks this out. The benefits of this supplement are so well-documented that an expectant mom can provide these life-long developmental benefits for her child, no matter her economic constraints.  We are approaching a time when the benefits of infant stimulation and the idea of learning in the womb won't even be questioned, much like good nutrition in a pregnancy.

People are blogging about BabyPlus!

Many days we find that people have written an independent blog about the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System.  This blog is titled "The Mother Hen Baby Concierge - Helping Expectant Parents Navigate Each Stage From Bump, Baby, and Beyond."  On Wednesday, September 10, 2008, the reviewer posted a short paragraph calling this the "in utero iPod."  She used the BabyPlus with her first child, and is now using the system with her second child.  Having a baby who latches on easily for breast feeding and sleeps well through the night or has a good sleeping schedule is possible if you use the BabyPlus prenatal care curriculum.  Click on the picture to read the blog posting on Mother Hen.

Your baby is born to learn - and you can impact their ability for a lifetime by using the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System during your pregnancy.  The BabyPlus is a set of 16 simple lessons that mimic your heartbeat - the only sound a developing baby truly recognizes.

The BabyPlus is the use of the mother's heartbeat sounds used as fetal enrichment. This idea that is not new and has been researched and developed by many prenatal scientists.  However, the heartbeat is the only sound your baby actually recognizes.  That is why the BabyPlus is the only significant prenatal program to use to during this critical period in prenatal development.

A question that has been asked a lot lately in Customer Service is concerning the volume of the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System and if it is too loud for the baby.  Here are our findings:

"The sound level to the baby is strictly controlled for both pitch and volume.  Dr. Logan spent many years studying the normal environment of the developing baby, and BabyPlus® is carefully designed to present sounds to the prenatal infant at a very safe but audible level.  The baby hears the sounds of the mother's heartbeat at approximately 95 decibels, as loud as a rock band, constantly.   Moreover, normal sounds in a mother's environment--television, loud remarks, traffic--reach the fetus at volumes similar to that of her heartbeat yet the baby still sleeps through it most of the time, even though its brain is monitoring the sound.  BabyPlus is designed to produce an external sound of about 105 decibels, which is then reduced by 30-35 decibels as it is filtered through the mother's abdominal wall, reaching the unborn infant at 70-75 decibels, well below the sound level of the mother's blood--which is present every minute, 24 hours per day.  BabyPlus therefore has a scientifically engineered sound ceiling which is always less that the natural sonic environment of the womb.  More than 70,000 families worldwide have attested to its safety and effectiveness. Over stimulation does not occur because the sound is so familiar to the developing baby. The tones are natural, and the sound level is safe.  Of the 70,000 BabyPlus children born to date, there has never been a case of hearing damage--or any other detrimental effect from the product."

In other words, the prenatal environment is louder to the baby than BabyPlus, so the volume is safe for your baby.

For about a month, I have been tallying responses from a survey sent out to over 200 previous BabyPlus users.  I was excited to see the results.  There were so many positive comments and hearing about the role that BabyPlus played in prenatal development reinforces the benefits after birth.

To summarize:  75% of moms started using BabyPlus between 18-22 weeks, which is the recommended time to begin.  82% of moms used BabyPlus consistently, two times a day on most days.  This was interesting because most moms who started during the recommended time and used the lessons consistently were more likely to complete the entire prenatal curriculum.  Lastly, and the most exciting, is that 95% of moms would recommend BabyPlus to a friend!

Getting positive feedback and reading about the results of using BabyPlus firsthand just reinforces what we have always said about the benefits of learning in the womb.

Can I Use My BabyPlus More Than Two Times a Day?

There is no real benefit to using the BabyPlus more than twice a day.  The earliest studies showed that Babyplus is most effective at two or more hours of usage per day, although over this minimum did not produce substantially greater results.

The sound level to the baby is strictly controlled for both pitch and volume.  Dr. Brent Logan spent 25 years studying the normal environment of the developing baby, and BabyPlus is carefully designed to present sounds for the prenatal infant at a very safe but audible level.  The baby hears the sounds of its mother's heartbeat at approximately 95 decibels, as loud as a rock band, constantly.   Moreover, normal sounds in a mother's environment--television,radio, loud remarks, traffic--reach the fetus at volumes similar to that of her heartbeat yet the baby still sleeps through this noise most of the time, even though its brain is always monitoring these sounds.  BabyPlus is designed to produce an external sound of about  90 to 95  decibels, which is then reduced by 30-35 decibels as it is filtered through the mother's abdominal wall, reaching the unborn infant at  60-65 decibels, well below the sound level of the mother's blood.  BabyPlus therefore has a scientifically engineered sound ceiling which is always less that the natural sonic environment of the womb.  More than 100,000 families worldwide have attested to its safety and effectiveness.  Overstimulation does not occur because, like the maternal bloodpulse, this sound is so familiar to the developing baby.  The tones are natural, and the sound level is appropriate.  Of all BabyPlus children born to date, there has never been a case of hearing damage--or any other detrimental effect from the product.

Teachers Love BabyPlus!

Here are some comments from a third grade teacher who used BabyPlus... "

After hearing and reading all of the positive things that the research had shown, as a parent and as a teacher, I was anxious, excited, and ready to use Baby Plus.

From the moment my daughter was born, my ob/gyn and the nurses commented on how alert she was…eyes wide open, looking around, and clearly trying to take in everything that this new world had to offer.  She took to nursing right away and it was a wonderful experience.  Sleeping was another thing that amazed me with her.  She was sleeping through the night (11:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m.) at eight weeks old.  At one week old, she turned her head from one side to the other.  She rolled over from her belly to her back and back again at an early time.  She said “mama” at the six months old, while looking right at me.  She really began talking around her first birthday, and could put two words together, like “more milk” around 16 months.  As she got older, the things she did continued to amaze me each day.  I started working with letter and number recognition with her at the age of two, and by two and a half, she knew all of her letters.  She could spell her name by herself by the age of two.  She knew all of her colors, shapes, including ones like “oval” and “diamond”. By the age of three, she knew all of her sounds and she could write her first name.  Now, at the age of three and a half, she can spell her first and last name and is now trying to spell words on her own.

I also have an 18 month old daughter with whom I used Baby Plus with as well.  My husband and I are seeing all of the same developments that we did with her older sister.  She took to nursing right away, and was sleeping through the night at seven weeks.  My second daughter began speaking very early, and too, at 16 months, began putting two words together.  Right now, at 18 months, she is trying to count…1, 2, 3, and when she hears her big sis say a letter, she tries to sing the alphabet.  My husband and I are seeing all of the same things we saw developmentally with our first daughter again with our second daughter.

In your on going quest to become the best father you can be, I know you have been scouring the books, surfing the web and asking advice from everyone. You have read about Prenatal Care, the stages of fetal development and even prenatal learning! (if you have not learned about prenatal learning check out www.babyplus.com) Some of you brave blokes have probably even talked to someone about breast feeding. That’s very important. Well we are not going to talk about that here.

I am going to tell you how you can have a great impact on your child. You just have to remember one thing. The Mother-To-Be. If your mom-to-be is a happy mom, everyone is happy. I took a survey in my office about the most thoughtful thing a man could do for the mom-to-be in his life, and many of them said. “Take the kids out of the house so I could have some alone time in my own house.”  Yes, gentlemen,  it’s a simple request, doesn’t cost much and means so much to her.

So why not gather up the kids one day and take them away? It could be as low key and a trip to the local park or playground. Take sandwiches so you don’t have to spend a bundle at the fast food restaurant. Take them to the library for some reading program. Libraries are full of activities for kids of all ages. You can always go visit Grandma and Grandpa. There just might be some good treats there!

After a long day with you, bring the kids home and keep them calm and quiet. If you are really good, you can even put them to bed!  Your mom-to-be will think she’s in heaven and you will have created a life long memory for you and your children.

It’s easy – now go out and do it.
