BabyPlus - "it is clear that the fetus can learn..."

Monday, March 15, 2010 by Cindy Wallander
According to an article by David K. James, School of Human Development, University of Nottingham, Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham, UK:

"Learning is defined as a change in behavior that occurs as a result of experience. It is clear that the fetus can learn by means of habituation, classical conditioning and exposure learning."

This is a fascinating article about the importance of learning during the fetal period.  To read the complete article, please click on the Wiley Interscience logo.

Music or BabyPlus

Friday, March 12, 2010 by Shelly Keefe
BabyPlus is relative to your baby's environment! Is there that much of a difference between playing music and using BabyPlus?  Absolutely!

While appropriate for infants and young children, music is too complex for a developing baby.  BabyPlus simplifies the complexity of music and breaks it down to a "language" your baby can understand--a single beat.  By introducing BabyPlus, a sound relative to your baby's environment, the foundation for learning begins during the most important stages of fetal development.

There is no doubt that after your baby is born, music is a wonderful tool.  Start out simple and then once your baby is born, you can work up to building an appreciation for music.

Babyplus -- Buildilng A Strong Foundation For The Future!

Thursday, March 11, 2010 by Shelly Keefe
Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C...Many years ago, pregnant women just did what was natural with little thought to nutrition or outside influences.  When prenatal vitamins were first suggested, I'm sure that women were thinking that it was a fad, a scam or a money making scheme.  Doctors didn't know about how folic acid impacted a developing baby.  Now we know how essential it is during pregnancy and what birth defects it can prevent.  However, I should point out that folic acid does not guarantee the prevention of birth defects but increases the odds they will prevented.

Today, taking a prenatal vitamin isn't given a second thought and is strongly encouraged for many reasons learned over the years.  Why wouldn't using a prenatal curriculum be the same?  We are learning more and more about the prenatal environment every day.

It is safe to assume that influencing a baby's cognitive development during fetal stages can be one such factor.  The realization that learning in the womb actually takes place and that learning begins before birth is giving way to prenatal education in mainstream ideas.

The brain is a complex organ and scientists only know a fraction about it and its functions.  To push aside an idea is a little premature.  Using a prenatal curriculum during pregnancy has so many great benefits.  BabyPlus doesn't guarantee a genius baby, a perfect sleeper or a highly gifted child, but it does increase the odds of strengthening the cognitive blueprint.

BabyPlus -- A Positive Choice During Pregnancy

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 by Shelly Keefe
BabyPlus is a wonderful gift to your unborn little one!A lot of focus goes into pregnancy like what to eat or drink.  A lot of focus also goes into after the baby is born like names or choosing whether or not to breastfeed.  But what about focusing on positively influencing the womb environment during development?

So many different things happen during the stages of fetal development, and so many factors can affect development that it is natural to want to have only positive actions during such a critical time.

As a mom, you want to do everything to protect your children from negative influences.  So what better way to positively influence your baby than to introduce an element that is already present in the womb during development--your heartbeat.

BabyPlus is a simple set of sounds similar to the mother's heartbeat, which is a constant element in the womb.  By stimulating learning during the important stages of fetal development, a foundation for learning throughout life is reinforced--and what could be more positive than that?

Check out our home page to find out more about the benefits of prenatal learning!

Go for the Gold, Baby!

Wednesday, February 17, 2010 by Shelly Keefe
Go for the Gold!I absolutely love the Proctor and Gamble commercials being shown during the Olympics thanking moms for everything they have done.  I think all moms deserve a little extra thanks now and then, too!

These families sacrifice a tremendous amount of time and money in hopes that their child will obtain Olympic gold.  There is a lot of dedication and hard work on both parts from a very young age--maybe even prenatally with eating right, exercising and taking care of mom during pregnancy.  However, I guarantee that none of these mothers took prenatal vitamins for the sole purpose of producing an Olympian!  They took prenatal vitamins as part of an overall prenatal program for the health of their baby.

There are many components of a good prenatal program, such as nutrition, exercise, mental health and prenatal learning.  It is a concept that is growing because so many are realizing the benefits of encouraging cognitive development during the important stages of fetal development.  Prenatal education does not push your baby to be smarter but strengthens his or her foundation for a lifetime of learning.

That's why we say that BabyPlus no more produces a genius than taking a prenatal vitamin produces a body builder--or in this case, an Olympic athlete!

What is BabyPlus and prenatal learning?

Wednesday, February 3, 2010 by Shelly Keefe
Pregnancy is a very important time.  So much is going on and you can influence a lot through nutrition, exercise and prenatal learning.

Prenatal learning is becoming more mainstream and can positively influence your baby's cognitive development during the time of very important fetal growth.  The BabyPlus Prenatal Education System is the perfect tool for your baby's prenatal journey which will influence him or her intellectually, developmentally, creatively and emotionally from the time they are born.

BabyPlus consists of a series of 16 simple sounds that resemble a mother's heartbeat. The rhythm of the sounds increases incrementally as the pregnancy progresses. The BabyPlus pattern introduces your little one to a sequential learning process built upon the natural rhythms relevant to their own environment.

This "auditory exercise" strengthens learning ability during the developmental period when the advantages will be most significant and enduring for a child.

He or she learns to discriminate between the sound coming from the mother and those from BabyPlus. In other words, learning has begun.

We're back!

Thursday, January 14, 2010 by Cindy Wallander
We are back from CES - Las Vegas!

BabyPlus was a huge hit in Las Vegas! The Consumer Electronics Show has concluded in Las Vegas, and we were beyond thrilled with our experience.

This year was the first year for the "Mommy Tech" area.  The BabyPlus Prenatal Education System was a perfect fit for "Mommy Tech."  We had so many great visitors to our booth.   Several representatives from countries all over If you missed us in Vegas - visit our site!the world are as excited as we are! Savvy parents know that the prenatal period is critical - and did we ever hear about it!  The study of the prenatal environment is not new, and some of the recent great findings just confirm what is already known.

Shannon Miller spoke on behalf of BabyPlus.  She is seeing tangible benefits in her son - such as he was sleeping through the night at 6 weeks and he has been very alert.

Prenatal care is important during the pregnancy trimesters.  The stages of development of a fetus are fascinating and crucial at the same time.  BabyPlus will have a profound and important impact on your baby.

And, with the hundreds of people who visited our BabyPlus booth, we know that infant development is a priority!

follow-up email from the baby's father

Thursday, December 17, 2009 by Cindy Wallander
Then, we received a follow-up email from the baby's father:

In his own words:

"He is doing very well with everything we’re teaching him.  He can read several hundred words in both English and German.  He likes pointing to words that he knows both in the books that are familiar to him as well as texts, pieces of paper etc. that he’s never seen before. He also likes putting his little plastic toy animals on the appropriate word cards.  It’s very cute."

Clearly this family knows the importance of the benefits of learning in the womb, fetal development in stages, and critical times in child development.

Congratulations to this little boy and all his cousins - they have a great start!

BabyPlus -- Investment for a Lifetime

Wednesday, November 25, 2009 by Shelly Keefe

I've noticed recently that a lot of companies have been using different tactics to get consumers' business.  I've seen offers for free gift cards with purchase, cash back, and huge discounts, just to name a few.  It's no secret that times are rough and with the holiday season soon around the corner, a lot of people are being very selective about where they spend their money and on what.  Along this idea, you have to think about each purchase as an investment.  Ask yourself if you really need that item or is it just something you want.  Is it going to be sitting on a shelf collecting dust in six months or will you get use from having it?

A great investment is in your child's future.  BabyPlus starts that investment before your baby is even born and is still in the prenatal environment.  By using a prenatal curriculum during the stages of fetal development, it is like investing in your baby's future and giving him or her a wonderful foundation for learning in the years to come.  For about 50 cents per use, you are banking towards a future that includes a relaxed, alert baby at birth who self soothes and takes to breastfeeding more readily.  And that is just at birth and during infancy.  So many more benefits emerge later in life like longer attention spans and earlier developmental milestones to name two.

BabyPlus Prenatal Education System is a wonderful investment and is money well spent according to over 150,000 BabyPlus families all over the world.  Just check our testimonials!

Thanksgiving Safety During Pregnancy

Tuesday, November 24, 2009 by Shelly Keefe
Just a few more days until Thanksgiving.  It's important to be cautious when cooking.  But, it's even more important to be careful what your baby is exposed to during fetal development.  Making sure the turkey is cooked to the correct internal temperature of at least 180 degrees is one important example.  There are several others to make sure you are up-to-date.

You're not only celebrating for yourself but for your baby, too.  Give your baby a safe Thanksgiving.

Gobble! Gobble!

BabyPlus is an educational product for the prenatal period.

Thursday, November 5, 2009 by Cindy Wallander

What does this mean, exactly?  Well, here at BabyPlus US, we are happy to explain!

BabyPlus is a curriculum that is a series of 16 naturally derived sounds that resemble a mother's heartbeat.  The rhythm of the sounds increases incrementally as the pregnancy progresses.

This "auditory exercise" strengthens learning ability during the developmental period when the advantages will be most significant and enduring for a child.

Simply put, BabyPlus sounds just like what your baby already knows (your heartbeat!) with use during fetal development in stagesjust enough variation during fetal development (the critical period in prenatal development).  Your baby can very clearly hear these patterns. She/he learns to tell the difference between the sound coming from the mother and those from BabyPlus. In other words, learning has begun.

We know -WOW!!!!

Happy Birthday, Sesame Street! You've Got The Right Idea!

Wednesday, November 4, 2009 by Shelly Keefe
"One of these things is not like the other..."  "C is for Cookie.  It's good enough for me."  "La la la la.  La la la la.  Elmo's song."

Happy Birthday To You...Happy 40th birthday, Sesame Street!  Who doesn't have memories of Super Grover, Oscar The Grouch or Big Bird singing to them on their televisions when they were little?  You can start songs like the ones above and nearly anyone can finish them--with a smile on their face, of course.

The writers on Sesame Street have the right idea.  Topics are broken down to simple components that are age appropriate and involve repetition to reinforce these topics.  You wouldn't introduce entire sentences in Spanish to a child but by teaching one word and repeating it over and over, it creates a basis for learning that can be built upon.  To this day, I still remember the little boy opening and closing the door--abierto...cerrado.
Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?
This is exactly how the theory of BabyPlus works.  It takes sound in its simplest form to strengthen cognitive development during the important stages of fetal development and repeats it over and over.  It is age appropriate because the mother's heartbeat is the most consistent sound in the prenatal environment.  It makes sense to use it for strengthening the foundation for learning.

So whether you have a toddler watching Sesame Street or are using BabyPlus with your soon-to-be born little one, know that building on the most basic fundamental relative to your child's age and are building a lifetime of learning.

Following a BabyPlus User...

Tuesday, November 3, 2009 by Shelly Keefe
I just found out my other sister-in-law in Missouri is pregnant!  In a family of five grandsons, maybe we'll have a girl!

I started talking to her about BabyPlus and she was quite intrigued.  My nephew will be two in December and she had a rough go around with him, particularly getting him to sleep.  The BabyPlus benefit of better sleep definitely got her attention.

She will be 18 weeks around the end of December and will be able to start using BabyPlus next month.  I will follow her weekly throughout her usage and after birth.  But for now, here are some reactions to our conversation about using BabyPlus.

What did you first think of when I mentioned using BabyPlus?

I really wanted to know more about it because I only briefly knew what it was.

--BabyPlus is a simple set of sounds derived from the mother's heartbeat, which stimulates cognitive development during the critical stages of fetal development.  It is the most basic and consistent sound that is part of the prenatal environment.

How does it work?

It is used for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening.  The number of days per lesson is determined by how far along you are when you start using BabyPlus.  We have a chart at www.babyplus.com.

How many people use the product?

We have over 150,000 BabyPlus babies all over the world and many countries.

Does it give successful results?

The best part of working in Customer Service is getting to hear all the wonderful parent testimonials.  I constantly hear about the benefits families see in their children.

I asked her what results she would like to see from using BabyPlus.

I'd like to see if it helps the baby to sleep better after they're born! I would also like to see if it'd help the baby to nurse well.

I told her those are two of the traits most commented on by parents, in addition to being well-adjusted, more interactive and responsive and being able to self soothe.

My sister-in-law is very excited to start using BabyPlus and I know she'll love to interact with my niece or nephew as she progresses through the lessons.  I can't wait to hear about the benefits she will see after he or she is born.  She is setting up her little one for a lifetime of learning.  More fun to come!

BabyPlus - Common Sense

Wednesday, October 28, 2009 by Cindy Wallander
Attitudes are shifting!  Common sense about the prenatal environment is here!

Everyone understands the negatives of the prenatal environment on fetal development.  We NEGATIVE! Be aware of fetal development in stages!know that when a woman drinks alcohol during pregnancy, she risks giving birth to a child who will pay the price — in mental and physical deficiencies — for his or her entire life.  Fetal alcohol syndrome will impact a baby physically and developmentally forever.

What about the positives?

Doesn't it make sense that if the negatives can impact your child forever, POSITIVE! Know the benefits of infant stimulation!so can the positives?  Everything that is enriching should start early - and early means the critical times in child development - while you are still pregnant.  Fetal development occurs in stages.  Begin using the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System during the 18th week of your pregnancy or later and you will benefit your baby's development in profound ways.

Remember -anything you do as an expectant mother and during pregnancy lasts a lifetime for your child!

Take a break--even for five minutes!

Wednesday, October 21, 2009 by Shelly Keefe
A lot of schools are having Fall Breaks this month.   Our school is having break next week for three days, which is just enough time to take a breath before heading into the holiday season when kids are distracted with everything going on.  This shouldn't stop just because we are grown up.  We all need to to step back, collect our thoughts and move forward with a clear vision.  Even though time is something we all would like more of, even taking five minutes to close your eyes and sit in silence if possible will renew your spirit.

A perfect way to do this when you are pregnant is to incorporate your BabyPlus lessons.  It is a perfect way to make yourself take a break, even if it's only for a part of the lesson.  You are doing something wonderful for your baby and his or her future by encouraging cognitive development during the critical stages of fetal development.  Not only are doing something good for yourself by relaxing, you are setting the foundation for a lifetime of benefits!
