Just a quick update from your "Feet on the Street".  I was visiting my "high risk pregnancy" friend yesterday and saw something I've NEVER seen before.  She said her baby was very active all the time, but yesterday I saw for myself just what she meant.  We were sitting on her couch talking, and suddenly her dress started moving and flapping around.  At first, I thought it was just her moving, but I saw that her abdomen would push out in several different directions at the same time and it became very obvious that it was actually the baby.  We started laughing about it, and the baby really started moving. If I didn't know that she was in her third trimester, I would have thought she had a puppy under her dress. She said he moved like that a lot, and that she would used BabyPlus when she needed a rest.  She stated that BabyPlus has actually started putting the baby to sleep, so when he becomes so active as to cause her pain, she would bring out BabyPlus.

My friend and I have talked about the benefits of prenatal stimulation, so I'm very happy that she can use the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System to stimulate her prenatal child's development.  Lucky for her, she can also use it to enhance his sleeping schedule as well.

I know my friend will have a smart baby, but I wonder if she's ready for a future Olympic gymnast?

I'll keep you posted!!!

Your "Feet on the Street".

OK you Dads-To-Be,  Listen up!  You guys are going to take really good care of the Mom-To-Be in your life. Remember men, she's the pregnant one, not you. She needs the TLC and you are just the one to give it to her.

Last time we talked about all the things that you have to investigate and learn about when you are having a baby. Fetal development, baby stimulation and how to have a smart baby are just a few. Not to mention all the infant sleeping schedules, breast feeding schedules and even something called prenatal learning!

Well let me tell you all that is fine and good, but if your Mom-To-Be is not happy, that's not good for anyone. So let's try to help her feel comfortable. It will result in a happier and healthier baby and mom.

Previously I explained how to give your lady a back massage, well how does a foot massage sound to you? I'll  tell you what, it will sound like heaven to her! No doubt about it. I'm going to give you a few pointer about foot massage.

Fill a large tub with warm water, and then add Epsom salts and eucalyptus oil. Place the tub on a towel in front of a comfortable chair or sofa. Have your Mom-To-Be sit down and place her feet in the tub and soak for 5-10 minutes. Then dry her feet with a soft fluffy towel.

Do basic stretches with the foot; pushing the top of the foot away from you and pulling the top toward you.

Warm up the foot by rubbing it all over and appling lotion or oil in a sweeping motion. Include the top, heel and arch. Gliding strokes work best. It is important to rub the entire foot first to warm it up. If you start to apply deep pressure to the foot before warming it up, there is a greater risk of causing injury.

Cup the foot with your hands and squeeze with the appropriate amount of pressure. You may move up and down as you are holding the foot.

Wrap your hand around the top of the foot, and then apply pressure with your fist to the underside of the foot. You can apply pressure by pushing in and out or in a circular motion.

Using your thumb and a moderate amount of pressure, start at the top of the foot on each side. Now glide toward the bottom along the sides of the foot. There are tendons that run along each side of the foot, these can be good to stretch.

Wrapping your hands around the foot from the front, squeeze firmly and pull upward alternating hands as you pull upward.

Rotate each toe starting the largest working to the smallest.

Finish giving a foot massage with a few sweeping strokes then gently rest your hands on her feet.

Trust me, she will love it!

Physical and Occupational Therapists agree that the BabyPlus Prenatal Education enriches the earliest developmental environment for a lifetime of benefit.

"As a pediatric physical therapist, the developmental strengths of the BabyPlus children I've seen in my practice are very convincing.  These children consistently demonstrate very strong fine and gross motor skills, early milestones, and long attention spans.  Now, I am a BabyPlus mother of three and have seen countless additional benefits in my own children.  What a wonderful investment!" Paula Ryan, Pediatric Physical Therapist

I heard about BabyPlus in a FitPregnancy Magazine when I was about 6-8 weeks along with our first child and decided to give it a try. My mother bought it for me (and the baby!) as my birthday gift and I began using it at 18 weeks. I must say that I am so very pleased with the product! Our beautiful baby boy is now 10 weeks old and a day never goes by that someone doesn't comment on how alert he is for his age. At 3 MINUTES old the doctor handed him to me; when my husband spoke, he turned his head completely around to look for his daddy!! He watches BabyFirst TV for 45-60 minutes if I let him, and will squeal and kick as the colors and pictures change! He has never been a crier either! He only cries when hungry or needs his diaper changed! I have been told by many people that he is the most content infant that they have ever been around. As an occupational therapist I have been very watchful of his milestones and have been pleased to find that he has reached ALL of them ahead of schedule. It seems that he started learning early and has thrived since being born. I truly feel that BabyPlus played a huge role in his calm demeanor, alertness, and quick learning. In utero, he enjoyed the lessons and would move along with the beats and from birth he has been an absolute angel!! I would recommend this product to anyone! I am already planning to use it with our next child

What Do the Experts Say?

Our patented prenatal curriculum is designed to strengthen your baby's learning capabilities with naturally derived audio lessons.  For your child, the developmental benefits of BabyPlus last a lifetime.

"For their child's lifetime development, every parent should hear about this discovery, an innovation representing the single most significant step science has taken toward increasing infant potential."  Rene Van de Carr, M.D., author of While You Are Expecting.

"The list of developmental benefits we've seen in our son, now age 4, is too long to go through in full.  Even my colleagues acknowledge he is an amazing child." Sarah Stroup, Ph.D., Professor and BabyPlus mother.

Joyful Time

The BabyPlus Company is lucky to be able to participate in the truly joyful time of a pregnancy.  We hear from expectant parents often; we love being a part of your lives.  Every parent wants to make sure they are giving the best prenatal care available to their child.  Your amazing concern and love for your child is so evident with every phone call and email you send us.  We believe in the benefits of infant stimulation during the stages of pregnancy, and clearly, so do you!  Think of the bond you are already establishing with your baby!

I sometimes hear an expectant mother say "I don't know when I would find the time to use BabyPlus". In my travels, I've heard some interesting suggestions from mothers who have overcome this.   One second time mother said she would use BabyPlus to lull herself and her two year old to sleep at naptime.  She would simply lie down, position BabyPlus, and cuddle up with her two year old. She would let the soft, rhythmic sounds lull her and her son to sleep.  Now, not only is everyone getting the rest they need, the prenatal baby is receiving the beneficial stimulation that BabyPlus provides. Having a smart baby is as easy as taking a nap!

See you next time,

As I watched the Chinese Olympics every night, I thought about what a beautiful and exotic culture it is.  In the ancient Orient, expectant mothers tried to create the ideal prenatal environment with a practice called "Tai-kyo."  This practice consisted of tapping in rhythm on their bellies in regular intervals.  They believed fully that there were post-natal benefits for their child.  The longest term benefit being strengthened learning capabilities for that child's lifetime.  All this by using a prenatal curriculum during the most critical period in infant development!  I often think how much an ancient culture such as China actually knew.  It's time again to revisit Tai-kyo.

Runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes--all signs of seasonal allergies.  Day by day pregnancy has enough going on to have to worry about these annoying symptoms.  The question of whether or not you should take allergy medication during pregnancy is one between you and your doctor.  However, there are several non-drug options such as using a humidifier, using Saline nasal spray and making sure you are drinking plenty of fluids.  Talk to your doctor about other options to help alleviate allergy symptoms.  You can both work out a prenatal plan that will be safe during all stages of pregnancy.

Working in Customer Service, one of the most common questions I get asked is "How many days do I listen to each BabyPlus lesson?"  The usage schedule can sometimes be confusing. Each lesson is to be used an equal number of days, with the exception of lesson 16, which will be longer or shorter depending on the actual day you deliver.

The chart is to be used just once to determine your schedule. For example, if you are in your 20th week of pregnancy when you start the BabyPlus, you will use each lesson twice a day for 9 days.

You will use Lesson #1 twice a day for 9 days. Then you will start Lesson #2 and use it twice a day for 9 days. Then you will start Lesson #3 and use it twice a day for 9 days, and continue through each lesson twice a day for 9 days.

On the 16th lesson, you may go for more or less than 9 days depending on when you deliver. Just continue with lesson 16 until you deliver.

If this is your first pregnancy, I know that you are concerned about your infant's development.  Prenatal care is so important to not only your baby's infancy but to his health and welfare throughout his life.  One element of prenatal care should be the use of BabyPlus.  One mother of a BabyPlus child wrote recently on BabyCenter.com about her child's early benefits and her baby's development after birth.

It seems to live up to its claims!
As promised, my daughter (25 months) was born with her eyes wide open, relaxed, not crying, and nursed well in spite of being a few weeks early. Early on, many people commented on how alert she is, and now they comment on how friendly, happy, and verbally advanced she seems to be. My mother works with an early childhood education program and gave me developmental charts that professionals use, and my daughter seems to be off the charts cognitively and verbally, and somewhat ahead emotionally as well. We haven't really been pushing hard to teach her things, but she knows at least 10 colors, several shapes, and about half the alphabet and the numbers 1-9 on sight. She can count to 12 solidly, and sometimes tries to get up to about 20, is up to 4 word phrases, and engages in lots of pretend play. She doesn't get upset very easily, and if she is upset, she recovers very quickly. I don't know how much of this is just her nature, but when I read the descriptions on the BabyPlus website, I have to believe it had something to do with it. My only word of caution is that it was louder than I expected which was a little annoying and made be worry a bit about the volume for my daughter, but her hearing is just fine!

A baby who sleeps through the night- that would be wonderful!  I remember when I had my 3 children. During all of the stages through pregnancy with my first child I thought about the delivery and how I would handle it. However, for my second and third child, during the pregnancy trimesters, I thought about the sleep deprivation that came after delivery and how I wished that those second and third babies would sleep through the night at an early age.  I, unfortunately, had my babies before BabyPlus was available.  Now, I know how I would be able to ensure that my baby would have a good chance of sleeping through the night at an early age.  Parents who have used BabyPlus report that one of the key benefits is their baby's ability to self soothe.  This means that the baby can calm herself down thus leading to better sleeping patterns, early on. This is especially important if you have other children or are planning to go back to work and can't afford the sleep deprivation that frequently comes with new babies.  So, give yourself and your baby the benefit of a early infant sleeping schedule that you both can enjoy.

BabyPlus Relaxes Prenatal Baby

I got a call from an expectant friend of mine who is experiencing a high-risk pregnancy.  She is 32 weeks pregnant and had been using BabyPlus regularly.  As her pregnancy progressed, she was put on bed rest, and then put on a Trabutaline pump, and had to wear a heart monitor for 2 hours a day.  With all that she was occupied with, she was frustrated and quit using BabyPlus.  For the next two weeks she said the baby had started getting really active, moving constantly, kicking very hard, and it became quite uncomfortable for her.  She thought back to BabyPlus, and figured maybe it might soothe the baby and maybe she could get some rest.  She started back with BabyPlus, and after a few days, she called me to say that BabyPlus had an amazing effect on the baby.  She said she went back to her schedule, using BabyPlus when she would lay down for a nap, and she said the baby fell asleep right away.  She said not only would he fall asleep, but said he was much more calm for the rest of the day, his kicking and movements became more playful and not as aggressive.  She credits BabyPlus.  Link to our website for more information about the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System. http://www.babyplus.com/

266 Important Days

As the founder of the BabyPlus Company, I have noticed much in the last decade.  Just ten years ago, the notion that the most a pregnant mom could do for her developing child during her pregnancy was to eat right and take a vitamin.  Today we know better!  I fully believe that (obviously) a prenatal child’s surrounding environment should not be unhealthy or toxic.  All scientists and physicians agree about the importance of these weeks, and the reasons are obvious.  I do not even think that this very environment should be neutral, because so much is known today!  The impact of these 266 days on long term development is so important that it is the expectant mother’s sincere obligation to enrich the environment.

Hi:  I’m Doria LaFlamme, Medical Accounts Manager for the BabyPlus Company.  I travel the country, attending many different healthcare conferences, where I represent BabyPlus to thousands of prenatal and postnatal health-care professionals, as well as expectant parents.  I’ve just returned from the National AWHONN Conference in Los Angeles and I can tell you that the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System caused quite the excitement!  Many of these health care professionals understand the benefit of early infant stimulation, which is exactly what BabyPlus provides.  In fact, several nurses have stated they are using the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System in the NICU, because they understand that premature babies have been taken from the natural environment (mom’s heartbeat)  during a critical period in prenatal development. Using BabyPlus replaces this stimlus for the continued development of the prenatal child.  I have many great stories that I will be sharing...

Look for future blogs from me, your “Feet on the Street”, as I will keep you posted about exciting news I uncover during my travels!

Becoming a parent for the first time can be a little scary.  There is an overwhelming amount of information about what to do and what not to do.  It can be quite intimidating.  By stepping back and taking time to decide what you want can help you begin to narrow down what things to research further.  An example would be a baby's feeding schedule.  On one hand, some say to set the baby's schedule and feed them only at specific times.  On the other hand, some say to feed the baby when they act hungry and to not depend too much on the clock to dictate the schedule.  There is a lot of information to support both sides but each method may not fit everyone.  Think about what type of lifestyle you will lead after the baby is born and how feeding will fit into it.  Once you've decided what would be best for you, then research more into that method.

Always remember there are no hard and fast rules to parenting so if something doesn't feel right or doesn't work, try something else.  Take cues from your baby and above all, try not to over think or get stressed.  You'll find that your baby is quite forgiving and won't hold it against you if you don't know everything!

One of the greatest risks to the developing fetus' brain is Infections. Many seemingly harmless infections can seriously impair early brain development during pregnancy. Most women today are immune to the most dangerous infections, including  German measles and  chicken pox as well as several sexually transmitted diseases (syphilis, gonorrhea, and genital herpes).

Prenatal testing and treatment can minimize the risk of some of these, but generally
speaking, pregnant women can best protect their babies' brains by practicing strict hygiene: wash your hands frequently, avoid sick friends and co-workers. Watch out for sloppy kisses, and don't share food or drinks with anyone--even your own toddlers! Get on and stay on a good sleeping schedule.

There is a new generation of moms emerging. You may be one of them or you may know someone who is. They are called the Millennial Moms.

These mothers are between the  ages of 16-28. There are a whopping 55.5 million of you out there. These women relish their independence and are able to create their own solutions from blogging to childbirth. They are confident and want to do things "my own way"

Millennials are savvy and  able to see through the hype when buying products or services. They research everything.

When these moms are pregnant they ask questions like, "What happens to my baby during the critical time in fetal development and child development ?"

They want to know about things llike early brain development during pregnancy, the benefits of infant stimulation and learning in the womb. The BabyPlus Prenatal Learning System is something they feel strongly about and are using it to enhance their babies’ development. They want a better nursing baby, a baby with a healthy sleep schedule.

They believe that the BabyPlus is a natural "no-hype" product because it is built on the simplest yet most powerful language of the prenatal child; the maternal heart beat sound in the womb.

Millennial Moms are an amazing new generation of mothers who know what they want and know how to get it.

Early brain development during pregnancy is a topic that is getting quite a bit of attention. This does not exactly guarantee a highly academic baby, but it does suggest that a baby can be more calm, can nurse more readily and later in life be more school ready. These babies have an improved sleeping schedule. There infant growth assessments are better. Watch the video about a family who used the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System and hear what they have to say.

A critical time in child development is the early brain development during pregnancy. Expectant mothers are increasingly more interested in fetal development and spend much time researching and learning about the latest in prenatal care. Learning in the womb has become an issue that is getting a lot of attention. Having a smart baby is a goal for most parents.
