How thankful am I that I get to be in Customer Service!  We are the first touch with customers and can offer reassurance and resolution of any issues.  I get to answer questions about the Usage Chart, questions about what a prenatal curriculum is, and questions about customers' orders.  I also get to share the benefits of BabyPlus with people who have never heard about prenatal learning and explain to them what a wonderful tool it can be during the critical stages of fetal development.  It's fun to hear a caller's reaction who never really knew what BabyPlus was until they talked with us.  Most are excited and realize how much sense it makes to use.

There are a lot of things to be thankful for this Thanksgiving even if you don't celebrate this particular holiday.  I am thankful to be part of such a wonderful company and being able to share with others how such a simple idea can make such an impact in a child--even before they are born!

So, what exactly are the critical periods in child development?

Some people are surprised to learn that the first one is the PRENATAL period, not infancy.  So, the stages of fetal development are truly critical to your developing baby.

The prenatal period is the time from conception to birth. It is a time of tremendous growth-from a single cell to an organism, complete with a brain and behavioral capabilities, produced in approximately a nine-month period.  So - the very first critical period in child development is when you are pregnant - and this is when learning begins!

During this first critical period, why not use the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System?  This simple set of educational sounds (mommy's heartbeat) is a curriculum developed from over 30 years of clinical research.  BabyPlus parents report that, at birth and infancy, babies more readily nurse, have an increased ability to self-soothe, are more interactive and responsive, and are more interactive and alert at birth.

BabyPlus parents also report that, later in life, BabyPlus babies demonstrate earlier developmental milestones, improved school readiness, enhanced intellectual abilities, greater creativity and independence, and longer attention spans.

Every parent should provide this curriculum opportunity for their baby while in the womb.

BabyPlus is in the news - again!

This time, Houston B.A.B.Y., has recognized the BabyPlus Prenatal Education system in their "Baby Finds - the latest and greatest baby gadgets and gizmos."  In her article, author Kelsey Hunter identifies "Smart Buys for New Parents - the latest and greatest products for mom, dad, and baby."  BabyPlus is listed on page 29 of the magazine.

We are not surprised.  The idea of prenatal education is not new.  Right now it seems to be becoming a bit more widespread.  The use of the maternal heartbeat to teach learning in the womb seems intuitive to us, so we are always thrilled when others recognize the value of our educational product.

Last night, I decided to get my 13-year-old son's opinion on exactly what I do at BabyPlus.  He thought for a second and answered, "I think it's a company that sells technology to make a baby smarter before they are born."  I told him it was close but that using BabyPlus just enhances what the baby is born with.  Keeping it simple, I gave him a quick summary about how a mom's heartbeat encourages learning before birth and that BabyPlus is like that by also encouraging the learning process.  I didn't use big terms like prenatal curriculum, prenatal environment or fetal development so it would make sense to him.  I told him a few of the benefits that he would understand like sleeping better.  I then asked him what he would think if he saw his aunt using one since she will be starting soon.  He said now that he knew exactly what it was, he would think it was helping the baby.

That made me think.  Maybe the more we talk about the benefits of using a prenatal curriculum, the more it will seem like a typical part of pregnancy, like a prenatal vitamin, when my son has children someday.

Using a prenatal curriculum, such as BabyPlus, during the early stages of prenatal development can have many benefits over your child's lifetime.  A lot of moms can agree.  However, getting started can sometimes be confusing.

The important idea to remember is that each lesson is to be used an equal number of days, with the exception of lesson 16, which will be longer or shorter depending on the actual day you deliver.  Also, keep in mind that the BabyPlus Lesson Schedule is based on days, not weeks.

The Usage Chart is to be used just once to determine your schedule.  For example, if you are in your 19th week of pregnancy when you start BabyPlus, you will use each lesson twice a day for 9 days.

You will use Lesson #1 twice a day for 9 days.  Then you will start Lesson #2 and use it twice a day for 9 days.  Then you will start Lesson #3 and use it twice a day for 9 days and continue through each lesson twice a day for 9 days.  On the 16th lesson, you may go for more or less than 9 days depending on when you deliver.  Just continue with lesson 16 until you deliver.

Buying BabyPlus at a "brick and mortar" store.

The BabyPlus is a wise investment to use during the critical periods in child development.  Keep in mind that fetal development is a critical time for the development of your child.  The measurement used to be 0-3 years of age.  The measurement now is prenatal to 3 years of age.  Moms must now do everything possible while pregnant.

Early brain development during pregnancy can be impacted by our curriculum (the simple sound of YOUR heartbeat).  Simply using this innovative product two times a days will impact your baby in ways you will notice both a birth and later in life.

BabyPlus.....and the Internet?  Absolutely!

This quick way to get information is great for all of us.  My teenagers occasionally get a research assignment, but we don't have to go to the library.  Most, if not all, research can be done on the web.  And, if they need a book on the topic, of course they search online for the book and, again online, reserve the book at our local library.

The fastest way to get information these days is through a quick search on the Internet.  The information "super highway " provides many, many answers to a simple search.  Do an Internet search for the term "prenatal education" - you will see about 421,000 search results.  Another term to search is "fetal development" - you will see about 1,750,000 results.  "Prenatal care curriculum" has quite a few results - about 146,000.

We have combined much information about the above topics, plus information about critical times in child development, learning in the womb, the stages of fetal development, and more, on our website.  Click on the logo below to see a condensed way to view the current information about how babies learn in the womb.

 Dear Customer Service,

What is BabyPlus?????

BabyPlus is a series of 16 scientifically designed rhythmic sounds that resemble a mother's heartbeat. The rhythm of the sounds increases incrementally and sequentially as the pregnancy progresses. The BabyPlus sound pattern introduces your child to a sequential learning process, built upon the natural rhythms of their own environment.

This "auditory exercise" strengthens cognitive development during the time period when the advantages will be most significant for a child. BabyPlus is the first educational tool designed for prenatal use that has been scientifically proven effective. BabyPlus children have intellectual, developmental, creative, and emotional advantages from the time they are born.

Your baby can very clearly hear these rhythmic sounds. She or he learns to discriminate between the sound coming from the mother and those from BabyPlus. In other words, the learning process has begun. Your baby will be able to accelerate the rate at which she or he compares and contrasts sounds. This process builds your baby's memory for greater capacity and function throughout life.

The BabyPlus curriculum is contained on a microchip unit that is worn twice a day by the mother while going about her normal routine.  It is a little bigger than the size of a bar of soap.  You attach it to a belt pouch (provided) and wear it.  The sounds come out of the speakers that are built into the unit.  You may begin using the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System anytime between weeks 18 and 32 of pregnancy, although we have had mother’s begin using the curriculum later in their pregnancy and still have tangible results. The system is pre-set for the optimum volume and duration of play. The curriculum is not available on cassette or CD. To learn more about the scientific studies behind BabyPlus, read some testimonials from mothers who have used our system, and purchase the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System, visit click on the BabyPlus logo.

I've noticed recently that a lot of companies have been using different tactics to get consumers' business.  I've seen offers for free gift cards with purchase, cash back, and huge discounts, just to name a few.  It's no secret that times are rough and with the holiday season soon around the corner, a lot of people are being very selective about where they spend their money and on what.  Along this idea, you have to think about each purchase as an investment.  Ask yourself if you really need that item or is it just something you want.  Is it going to be sitting on a shelf collecting dust in six months or will you get use from having it?

A great investment is in your child's future.  BabyPlus starts that investment before your baby is even born and is still in the prenatal environment.  By using a prenatal curriculum during the stages of fetal development, it is like investing in your baby's future and giving him or her a wonderful foundation for learning in the years to come.  For about 50 cents per use, you are banking towards a future that includes a relaxed, alert baby at birth who self soothes and takes to breastfeeding more readily.  And that is just at birth and during infancy.  So many more benefits emerge later in life like longer attention spans and earlier developmental milestones to name two.

BabyPlus Prenatal Education System is a wonderful investment and is money well spent according to over 150,000 BabyPlus families all over the world.  Just check our testimonials!

What a great fit for BabyPlus to take part in Alison Sweeney’s baby shower.  The event, hosted by Hot Mom’s Club and sponsored by BabyPlus was held November 2 at the Tree House Social Club in Los Angeles.  The atmosphere was wonderful, full of young moms and their kids.  It was incredible to see Alison interact with her young son and through BabyPlus she can already start bonding with her daughter.  BabyPlus gives moms a chance to spend “special” time each day with their child while still in the womb.  The amazing part is the baby starts to respond to the BabyPlus lessons, becoming active during the time when BabyPlus is played.  If a mom is consistent, using BabyPlus at around the same time every day, babies tend to become active during the time when they’re used to hearing the lessons.  I’m sure Alison is enjoying the time she is able to spend with both her children and no doubt, she will continue to see results from BabyPlus after her daughter is born.

Some days I just love working in Customer Service.  A mom called in to order BabyPlus for her daughter who is pregnant with her first child.  That in itself is exciting, but it gets even better!  Her husband just happened to call at the perfect time while she was having her ultrasound.  What makes it so exciting is that he is in Iraq and got to hear his baby's heartbeat for the first time!  Of course, I teared up (I'm a softie!)

First, it's amazing the world we live in and today's technology that allows memories like this to happen.  Second, a moment like this helps put a hectic day in perspective and helps me remember what's important.

As BabyPlus approaches 20 years since its commercialization, readers might be interested in a bit of history.

After conceiving the general concept in August 1982, I spent three years developing the basic theory, which was presented at a Los Angeles nursing conference in March 1986, then to an international congress in Austria the following September.

Over many months I worked closely with technicians to structure curricularized sounds derived from the maternal bloodpulse as recorded in the womb, and by August 1987 first BabyPlus birth took place.  Within a year there were enough infants to constitute a pilot study, and those results--along with the principles behind the idea--were published in a peer-reviewed journal.  An independent clinical trial by a physician team compared this approach with music and a control group, tracking children over nine years, to confirm the original advantages; that assessment also appeared in a professional publication.

Today, with over 100,000 youth worldwide having received the BabyPlus benefits, those of us affiliated with this product are enormously gratified that we have been able to assist a generation representing great promise.

A lot of focus goes into pregnancy like what to eat or drink.  A lot of focus also goes into after the baby is born like names or choosing whether or not to breastfeed.  But what about focusing on positively influencing the womb environment during development?

Many, many things happen during the stages of fetal development, and so many factors can affect development that it is natural to want to have only positive actions during such a critical time.

As a mom, you want to do everything to protect your children from negative influences.  So what better way to positively influence your baby than to introduce an element that is already present in the womb during development.  BabyPlus is a simple set of sounds similar to the mother's heartbeat, which is a constant element in the womb.  By stimulating learning during the important stages of fetal development, a foundation for learning throughout life is reinforced.

BabyPlus and Alison Sweeney

We were thrilled to be a part of Alison Sweeney's Baby shower in LA two weeks Click to read more about Alison's baby shower!ago.  Alison was recently introduced to BabyPlus while pregnant with her second child.  She is bound to see the tangible results other moms have seen. Like other moms, she will probably notice that her baby sleeps through the night quickly and easily self-soothes.  Perhaps she already knows the benefits of learning in the womb.  However she came to be aware of the idea of prenatal education does not matter.  What matters is that their baby will benefit from hearing the mother's heartbeat sounds of the BabyPlus.

This shower was delightful, plus there was a twist — all presents were donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  How wonderful and generous!  Obviously, Alison is a great woman, mother, wife, and friend.  We are so excited to have been included!

BabyPlus - Guest Blogging

New to our blog - the Guest blog!  We will be posting occasionally for people who have thoughts about BabyPlus.

The idea is so people outside of the BabyPlus office will be able to share their thoughts on the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System, fetal development, national and international use of the prenatal care curriculum, and critical times in child development.

Enjoy reading these thoughts from our "guest bloggers."

so........what exactly is this idea of prenatal care?

Well, of course, the idea of taking care of yourself while you are pregnant is not new.  Eating well and taking a prenatal vitamin while you are pregant are both widely accepted as a sound way to take care of your developing baby.

Another idea that is NOT new - although it may be new to you - is the idea that your baby can learn in the womb.  Over 30 years of clinical research has indicated that your baby will respond to the sounds of the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System - here is how:

BabyPlus babies at birth and infancy:

*more readily nurse
*have increased ability to self-soothe
*are more interactive and responsive
*are relaxed and alert at birth

And, later in life, these children demonstrate:

*earlier developmental milestones
*improved school readiness
*enhanced intellectual abilities
*greater creativity and independence
*longer attentiaon spans

The benefits of prenatal care last a lifetime!

   Alison Sweeney's Baby Shower

Our Company, BabyPlus, was a proud co-sponsor of Alison Sweeney's recent Baby Shower at the Tree House Social Club in Los Angeles. My publicist, Chris Herbert, and I both attended. The Mom-To-Be was as gracious and lovely as I had heard. She genuinely has a new fan in me! Alison chose to donate a portion of the proceeds to St. Jude Children's Hospital, one of her favorite causes. Even the persons surrounding Alison's celebrity, her assistant and her publicist, were warm and welcoming. We got a chance to catch up with Abby Tuller, editor-in- chief at Pregnancy Magazine. She is always so savvy and fun when I've met her and seems very interested in what we continue to report re the childhood benefits of the BabyPlus Prenatal Education System.
At the end of the shower, Alison's husband came to help get her gifts in the family car...he couldn't believe the offerings!
I look forward to hearing from Alison after her daughter is born...she is in terrific company with so many other celebrity BabyPlus Moms!

The Presidential Election is almost at an end.  It's all in the hands of the voters and the decision will be made soon.  It has been one of the most, if not the most, important elections in history.  It is the main thing people are talking about and has been the primary focus in the media.  A lot of pressure will be on the victor for the next four years and hopefully all their preparation will help them along the way.

For years, each of the candidates have meticulously planned and prepared their positions and platforms.  Their entire careers have laid the foundation for their political futures and have led up to this moment.  It might be safe to say that things they did years ago might have an impact on where they are today.

Many factors can influence a person's life over time.  For example, if a mother doesn't get adequate calcium intake during pregnancy, it can weaken her bones years in the future.  If a child doesn't brush her teeth, she will get cavities.  If a father practices catching a football with his son, he will eventually learn how.  If a pregnant mother uses BabyPlus during pregnancy, her child will receive the benefits of a prenatal curriculum.  This, in turn, will set the foundation for a lifetime of learning.  This means it will influence the child's life into their teenage years, when they are in college, when they go to get a job and when they become parents.  The use of BabyPlus during such a critical period in prenatal development is a springboard to setting the stage for a multitude of benefits that will last throughout their lives.
