I was just asked if I would like a glass of pomegranate juice from a co-worker who brought some in. I had never had any and wanted to try it. Oh my! It reminded me of cranberry juice and tasted wonderful cold! I think I have found a new favorite!
I got online to research if pomegranate juice was very beneficial and I was pleasantly surprised! Pomegranate juice has almost 50% of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of Vitamin C. It also contains Vitamins A and E as well as folic acid. There are so many wonderful antioxidant properties and it has more than three times the amount of antioxidants as an equal amount of red wine or green tea. This is perfect for pregnant women who can't drink and should limit their intake of green tea during pregnancy. The juice has been shown to reduce plaque in arteries and raise good cholesterol levels while helping lower bad cholesterol.
With the popularity of being health conscious, pomegranate juice is one of the top choices for a healthy diet and exercise program. This is quite important especially during pregnancy. Cindy has blogged about the importance of antioxidants and you can scroll through our blog pages to read more.
Just one more gift to give yourself and your unborn baby. So, thanks, Julie, for offering to share some of your pomegranate juice! I'm stopping on my way home to get my own!
