First time moms can be nervous when it comes to their very first prenatal care checkup. The first office visit usually begins with a check of your height, weight, and blood pressure.

You and your doctor may also discuss the following:
- Review of medical history
- The due date
- Contraceptive history
- Family history of major disease or genetic issues
- General health
- Allergy history
- Use of medications
Tests at your first visit include:
- Blood work
- Pap smear
- Urinalysis
- Heart, lung, and thyroid assessment by your doctor
As you get further along in you pregnancy, you will be expected to make more and more doctors visits. These monthly check-ups will include:
- Urine check
- Weight check
- Blood pressure
- Check hands, feet, and face for excessive swelling
- Measurement of your abdomen to assess stages of fetal development
- Check the baby's positioning
- Fetal heart rate check
