Hey Dad-to-be! Now that you have mastered the art of back massage and foot massage, (if you haven’t, see earlier blog posts) I am going to let you in on a little secret that you can use often. A woman loves when a man cooks for her.
One of the most wonderful things you can do for your Mom-To-Be is prepare her a delicious meal.
Now I know that not many men can cook well. There aren't many men that even want to know how to cook well and if you are one of them that's ok. But what every man does need know is that cooking for a woman will remind her of why she's having your baby. Now is the time to thank her. This is why every man should be able to cook a few simple meals. I am going to give you a simple but elegant and tasty menu with the recipes that you can cook and she will appreciate.
Pan Seared Filet Mignon
Ingredients:
2, 8-10 oz. Beef filets or beef tenderloin
Olive or Canola oil
Salt
Pepper
Preparation:
1. Heat a small pan on high with 2 tablespoons of oil
2. Sear the filets for 30 seconds on each side.
3. Wrap the filets in foil and place them in the oven.
4. Broil in the oven for 5 to 7 minutes. Feel free to cut into the middle of the filet to check its color. You want the meat to be a medium to dark shade of pink. Brown means it’s over-cooked, and red means it’s under-cooked.
Roasted Red Potatoes
Ingredients:
6 to 8 small red potatoes, quartered into 1/2-inch pieces
1 tablespoon olive oil or garlic-flavored olive oil
1 tablespoon minced fresh rosemary leaves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and toss to coat potatoes. Transfer potatoes to a large baking sheet or shallow roasting pan. Roast 25 to 30 minutes, until tender and golden.

Steamed Asparagus
Ingredients:
1 bunch fresh asparagus spears
Butter
Preparation:
1. Cut about an inch off the bottom parts of the asparagus
2. Season them with salt and pepper
3. Place them in a pan filled with an inch of water and cover them
4. Simmer on the stove until they turn bright green or get tender — about 5 minutes
5. Drain and top with butter
Presentation: Slice the filet in thin slices halfway through and spread it like a fan over the red potatoes with the asparagus leaning on the other side of the potatoes.
