Olivia was the number one baby name in 2008 in six states, number two in seven and in the top six of the United States. Olivia means from an olive tree or fruitful, full of dignity and full of beauty. Also, extending an olive branch in our culture is an offer of peace.I have a friend whose daughter's name is Olivia. It was not the name she originally chose when she was pregnant. After she was born, one of the big sisters said she looked like an olive because of her dark hair and olive complexion. Thus, she was named Olivia.
