First Years of Marriage

My husband and I are coming up on our one year anniversary in September.  On any given day, we get asked two or three times “When are you going to start trying for little ones?”.  We were lucky enough to be the last of our friends to get married, and are able to see everyone else have kids first. Recently, a friend of mine found out she was pregnant…with twins!  We are so excited for these first time parents, but […] Read more »

40th anniversary of the moon landing

Monday, July 20, 2009 A special ceremony was held at the White House today as the US celebrates the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. I am always proud and inspired on these days when Americans can honor a great achievement. The crew of the Apollo 11 – Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins – urged mankind to make a renewed effort to land on Mars. Great achievements in any field should be remembered and celebrated – that is […] Read more »

Google “baby advice” and you will see over 84,000,000 results. Well, here at BabyPlus, we think our moms are very wise! I love finding out the best advice someone’s mom gave them…so I asked people here in the BabyPlus office, and found that many of us have been hearing the same things from our moms… “Be what you want your children to become.  They become who you are – MODEL.” “Stay consistent.” “Your child will know when and if you […] Read more »

Know Your Facts!

I have written many times about how enjoyable working in Customer Service at BabyPlus is. I must now vent a bit about something that is a little frustrating to me. There are people who truly do not know exactly what BabyPlus is and then feel they can write about something they don’t even know about. I guess I take it personally because I truly love this company and believe in the concept of prenatal curriculum. It’s easy to feel hurt […] Read more »

A Weighty Issue – Part Two

A Weighty Issue by Marcia Ellett (July, 2009) The American Pregnancy Association says, “Throughout your pregnancy the goal is to keep weight gain as steady as possible because your baby requires a daily supply of nutrients that comes from what you eat.” That should equate to roughly a pound a week in your second and third trimesters for women who fall within the normal weight range at the start of their pregnancy. According to WebMD, “It is not necessary to eat […] Read more »

A Weighty Issue – Part One

A Weighty Issue by Marcia Ellett (July, 2009) Weight is a sensitive subject for many women even when they’re not expecting. Add the raging hormones of pregnancy into the mix and we may need to be talked off the ledge. Fortunately, when it comes to the notion of eating for two there is plenty of sound advice out there. According to the Institute of Medicine, if you’re planning to have a family but aren’t yet expecting, the best course of […] Read more »

Is Having a Smart Baby Important?

Is Having a Smart Baby Important? Well, this seems to be a hot topic for debate on blogs all over the Internet.  Everyone has an opinion… From the perspective of the BabyPlus Company, however, this is more about developing your child for a lifetime of learning. We understand the concept of pushing kids to hard; we do not advocate for that idea.  Rather, we advocate for the idea of making sure your baby has all the developmental tools available during your pregnancy. The […] Read more »

Nuture with Nature — Part 2

Nurture with Nature (Written by Marcia Ellett — July 2009) Part 2 And nature scenes on your TV set don’t count. As far as reducing stress goes, that appears to have no more effect than sitting your child in front of a blank wall. Peter Kahn, a University of Washington associate professor of psychology confirms: “Let’s not be fooled into thinking we can live without nature. We are losing direct experiences with nature. Instead, more and more we’re experiencing nature […] Read more »
